~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The myths speak about marriage as the union of opposites.
ALCHEMY!
In paganism,
women are connected to the moon,
And men are connected to the sun.
Women bleed according to the moon’s rhythms.
And because women cycle so often ~
the sun (men) holds the moon’s (women) container…
When she bleeds, when she birth, and through her hormonal fluctuations through life,
Men are there because she is the portal between worlds.
The myths say that women’s hormonal shifts are connected to the stars.
And the stars are connected to each one of us.
A woman’s ups and down have meaning.
“She is the Cosmic Womb.” “She holds the world in her belly.”
These are graphic images to explain that when women feel,
they are processing emotions for everyone.
~~
Ancient religions speak about Isis and Osiris, and Mary Magdalene and Jeshua.
These are examples of alchemical transformation.
They were two sovereign people, who through their merger,
created something more powerful than themselves.
This is a deep magic, and a very profound magic.
Honestly most of us don’t know how to navigate it.
Certain tribal cultures and Old World Religions came up with rituals to support marriage alchemy.
Not just the typical “Til death do us part,” but rituals that reflect nature, and that life includes growth and change.
Again!
When you choose to be married, it’s a choice to alchemize.
It’s a choice to change and transform.
And to do that, a container is necessary.
But!
How do you navigate the line between~
committing to the relationship when it’s hard.
And, knowing when its time to split up, because things are TOO hard?
~
Let’s turn to the myths!
In paganism, people get married for a year and a day, every Beltane!
I really love this!
Beltane is in May,  when the world is juicy!
It’s SPRING! Animals are birthing babies… the flowers are in bloom…
and all you want to do is be in union.
Marriage is a commitment though!
And at your marriage ceremony you get hand fasted.
The ritual of Hand fasting – includes rope that ties your hands together.
With it, you are committing to not break your union for a year and a day.
This is different than “until death do us part.”
In Paganism it says,
“Stay in your union a year and a day –
and if you want to unwind, or renew your vows,
please do so next Beltane.
~~
Here’s what’s neat about this magick!
Beltane’s energy is Juicy and we desire to be in union.
But the winter months are cold!
Winter is about transformation.
And this is when we do our deep work.
The hand-fasting reminds us that when our relationship gets hard in winter,
do not break container!
Go through it.
Wait until next Beltane to break your container… or renew your vows.
If you desire to break up-
when everything around you wants to be in union,
then okay!
Release your vows, uncord yourself.
Say thank you so much, and go your separate ways. 🙂
Or! you can renew your vows and go through it all over again for another year and a day.
~~
Isn’t that’s beautiful!?
The lesson is, don’t be in hardship too long.
If you lose your sovereignty and you start living out unhealthy marriage models– then uncord.
But don’t be too hasty! Hardship has meaningful lessons.
And marriage is a commitment, so that we can alchemize and transform.
~~~
On august 7th, 2019

Adam and I created our own alternative marriage.
We had a tantra puja, which is an admiration ceremony, and we worshiped each other.
Then we went into the red tent, and I danced the journey of Inanna.
Adam went down on one knee, and held space for me as I entered the underworld.

That’s marriage.
.. the sun and the moon.
… the chalice and the blade.
…. the the ankh.

These symbols have been here forever as a map for union in life.

Why do women become depressed after giving birth?
Why do women get mastitis or oral thrush?
Why are there women who have hyperemesis in pregnancy?

Is there meaning to this madness? Is our body trying to tell us something?

I believe our body is a compass.
When it gets sick, it’s  often doing so to clear something deep within us.
~~~
I’d like to tell you a couple stories….
A friend of mine came over a few days ago with her baby.
After giving birth, she had the WORST mastitis and oral thrush.
And, she had a fever for six weeks.
Louise Hay is a Medical Intuitive, who channels the emotional reasons for illness.
Breast reflects our ability (or inability) to feel safe in connection with others.
Thrush represents pent up anger and resentment.
& mastitis represents putting everyone else first, with a refusal to nurture the self.
For my friend, it seems that her newborn child brought up her own fears around giving and receiving.
The physical pain is a good thing!
It means that the old emotional pain, that’s been hiding deep down,
is actually moving to the surface.
Once it “pops” the physical pain will lessen and she will feel clearer- in all ways.
When her emotional baggage is clearer, she can be the mother she wants to be.
~~
Another thing….
She had a fever.
Fevers happen when the body is cutting energy cords.
Energy cords are old attachments that, in my friend’s case, are no longer useful.
Birth is a portal!
And my friend’s fever, was helping her cut away her old self.
It was a transmutation process~ shedding the old so she can claim the new.
~~
Ok. Next story.
One of my best friends has five babies. With each child she is diagnosed with hyperemesis.
Hyperemesis happens when a woman has severe sickness in pregnancy.
She cannot eat and can only drink through an IV drip.
Often she is hospitalized.
But! My friend has been sick her whole life.
A few years before she had her first baby she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
(Which she cured through alternative methods.)
While she is pregnant,
my friend believes that her babies – are purging her of the toxins that are already inside her.
While she feels sick, she prays and finds gratitude for the journey toward healing.
~~
I tell these stories to help us change our frame of mind around illness.
I believe our bodies are not out to get us.
The pain is asking us to turn our attention toward our insides.
Through the process of healing our sickness– we can transform.
I’d like to tell a story around why it is I chose Adam as my partner.
A little background on me, my name is Aurora FaeTerra.
I used to go by Aurora Rae and, for 10 years, I traveled with ourredtent.com and I taught the woman’s mysteries.
I was a speaker for the red feminine and the wild woman!
Part of being the wild woman and embodying the red feminine ~
is to identify with self sovereignty….
owning our bodies, speaking our truth, reclaiming our sexuality, and being embodied with our emotional flow.
Which is amazing!
And for those 10 years, i felt married to myself.
I was polyamorous, in open relationships, and I was happy!!
But then I wanted to have a child.
And i wanted to be in a union with a man
-who honored my wild woman ideals –
but held a strong container.
Isn’t that interesting?
How do you own your self sovereignty and also, merge in the alchemy of marriage?
~~
Well! I speak more about this in the audio above.
