On Friday October 28th, when the veils are thin, our family is going to the Graveyard.

We will celebrate life, by honoring those who have passed away.

We’d love for you to join us.

It’s a casual gathering. There will be little facilitation.

It’s simply a time for you to talk with your children about family members who have passed, read gravestones and to bring up the topic of death.

Taking inspiration from Dia de Los Muertos, we would like to bring joy to this day! Celebration is a wonderful way to transmute fear.

We will be wearing skeleton costumes, and you are welcome to dress up as well.

You are also invited to bring flowers to put on graves and to bring photos of family members. Do whatever feels good to you!

Although we are calling this event “Halloween in the Graveyard,” our family calls this holiday Samhain. And on this day we also honor Dia de Los Muertos.

People around the world have different names for this day when the veils between worlds is thin. And the spirits come to visit us.

Note:
We aren’t publicly promoting this event. It will be very small.

Afterwards, we will probably go to the Kula Food Trucks, by Longs Drugs. You are welcome to join us!

It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on Earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had.” Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Date: Friday, October 28th
Time: 4pm
